About Bulgaria

Hello all,

I prepared something that might be of interest to you. It is a short overview of some of the most interesting historical tourist sites in Bulgaria. Please excuse the low quality of the sound, I am currently working on recording it again. The reason I am uploading it in this rough stage is that I would like to get some feedback - do you find it interesting, would you like to get more information, do you have any other suggestions?

Thank you.

My favourite place in Dublin

Dublin is a vibrant city that has its own very special rhythm. When you are in its outskirts, this rhythm is slow and soothing. There is almost no traffic and when you see someone on the street you smile and say "hello" to each other politely. The clean streets and walkways, the charming houses with their emerald gardens and the quietness create a very peaceful atmosphere. Once you approach the city center, however, you enter a completely different world. A heavily breathing world with a faster heart rate. The rhythm in the center of Dublin is dynamic and absorbing. You easily get lost in the buzz of thousands automobiles passing by and of the colorful crowds of people - locals and tourists - striding the streets. Even though this intense rhythm is charismatic and fascinating, it can unnoticeably drain your energy. That is why, I prefer a more quiet and relaxing ambiance. The place that provides me with the desired refreshing and regenerating surroundings is the National Botanic Gardens.

Every time I go there and sink into its greenness I forget about the daily problems. No matter how stressed I am, how much work I have or even how depressed I am, this place gives me the comfort and stillness I need to relax. The fresh air, the soft whispering of the wind streaming through the leafs, and the vivid colours hide you from the city noise. The almost magical beauty of the surroundings - the trees, the flowers, the river, and the birds and squirrels - are the best remedy for everyone who needs an escape from everything. That is why, the botanic gardens are my favourite place in Dublin.

Last Session of the ILP

Dear All,

Our last session of the ILP was both a very joyous and a very sad occasion. We went together through this learning process and the time to say goodbye came very quickly. I wanted to thank you all for everything. The experience was incredible - I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to meet so many nice people. I learned a lot from communicating with you and I am happy that I was part of this initiative - it felt more than rewarding. I hope that we will meet again next semester and continue this journey together. Finally, I want to say a special "Thank you" to Brid, who was very patient and kind to me - this means a lot and I appreciate it.

I am posting a photo from the last session, which to remind us of the good time we had together.

Take care.

Recession in Bulgaria

Downtown Sofia

I am from Bulgaria - a country in South Eastern Europe. We were part of the socialist block some 20 years ago and when it collapsed in 1989 people in Bulgaria had high hopes for the future. Everyone thought that good times are ahead, but it has been more than 20 years now, and in many aspects our country is getting worse for living. We did not really feel this most recent global recession because we have been constantly in economic crisis in the past years. What I would like to share with you is that you should not be too concerned about what is happening with your economy, because it can be far worse, as it is in Bulgaria for example. So, please, don't be too pessimistic about this. Ireland is still doing pretty well.
